8th Initiative Urheberrecht Conference on Authors' Rights
Date: 16 November 2020 / 10.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m.
Venue: The event is ONLY offered as a LIVESTREAM.
The FOOTAGE of the event is still available.
The 8th conference will take place this year under special conditions: The corona crisis has revealed the particular concern and fragility of artistic professional practice, and thus the importance of steps to stabilize the professional and social situation of professional creatives.
In autumn 2020, the Bundestag will discuss the implementation of the DSM Directive into German law according to the previously known plans. A key issues paper by the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection has outlined the intended strategy for implementing the directive, a draft bill for implementation is currently being coordinated by departments and is already being discussed intensively. The draft stipulates that in future the platforms / online service providers and not the users will be responsible for clarifying the rights. It also regulates the publisher's participation, press performance protection law and supplements the applicable copyright contract law.
The conference of the Authors’ Rights Initiative addresses the essential questions and discusses with experts from the field of copyright law, with politicians and representatives from the cultural and media industries concerned as well as, of course, authors and artists in a suitable framework.
The conference will focus on several issues:
- New regulation of responsibility for the distribution of works on certain platforms
- Reforms of copyright contract law
- Linking network and copyright policy
The Federal Minister of Justice and Consumer Protection Christine Lambrecht has already confirmed her participation, Wim Wenders will make a contribution, as will other prominent speakers - more names will soon be listed on the PROGRAM page of this website
Participation via livestream will be possible online on the day of the event under the "LIVESTREAM" tab on this conference website. The FOOTAGE of the event is still available.
Participation is free.
