Born on 7 December 1966 in Sassenberg; married, two children.
Grew up in Heepen, Bielefeld county, and Olpe. Rößner studied music, art history, film and television studies from 1985 to 1992 (University of Cologne and Goethe University Frankfurt am Main); completed postgraduate course in journalism and public law from 1992 to 1994 (Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz).
Has worked as a freelance journalist and writer since 1991; most recently held the position of managing and planning editor (senior duty editor) for ZDF in Mainz.
Rößner has been a member of Alliance 90/The Greens since 1986. In 1990 she became the spokeswoman for the executive committee of the Mainz branch of Alliance 90/The Greens ; She was also spokeswoman for the executive committee of the Rhineland-Palatinate Land branch of Alliance 90/The Greens from 2001 to 2006. Delegate to the party conference of Alliance 90/The Greens since 2001; member of Mainz city council and deputy spokeswoman for the Greens group on the council from 2004 to 2012.
Member of the German Bundestag since October 2009. Expert on media politics, digital infrastructure and the creative industries.
