Head of the Berlin Senate Chancellery
Christian Gaebler, born in Berlin in 1964, has been head of the Berlin Senate Chancellery since April 2018. Before that, the SPD politician was State Secretary in the Senate Department for Urban Development and the Environment (2011–2016) and in the Senate Department for Interior Affairs and Sport of the State of Berlin (2016–2018). After graduating from high school in Berlin in 1982, Gaebler studied transportation at the Technical University of Berlin, specializing in planning and operations, and in 1992 he obtained a degree in engineering. He then worked as a research assistant until 1995 and as a project manager at private planning offices. From January 1996 to 2001 he worked as a freelance traffic planner before he finally ended up in politics as the parliamentary manager of the SPD parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives.
